texas hold em strategy

Some poker players feel that bluffing is a strategy best kept for real time and personal play. However, the serious poker player realizes that you do not have to look into someone’s eyes in order to play a great bluff. Online game Texas Hold’em can be taken to a whole new level if it’s players are utilizing this common, yet masterful, technique. The following are some basic tips to keep in mind while bluffing during an online game.

When playing an online game of Texas Hold’em bluffing can be more challenging and a bit trickier to master. The disadvantage to any online poker game is the inability to see and read your opponent. You will not be able to analyze eye movement, facial expressions or breathing pattern, but its vital to remember that the other players can not see you either and this can also be used to your advantage. It is easier to conceal a bluff when everyone is playing online.

Another important tip is to limit yourself to only a few bluffs per online game of Texas Hold’em. If you bluff too often your opponents will begin to feel as though every hand you hold is a bluff and your strategy will backfire rather quickly. It is best only to bluff when you feel the other players may be unsure of their hands. If your poker intuition tells you that someone is struggling, time your bluff appropriately.

Bluffing in the beginning of an online game of Texas Holdem is also unwise. If you are seated at an “early table position” or you are one of the first to bet, remember there are a lot of players who will follow you and any one of them can call you out at any time. Bluffing online is best done on the defensive, wait until most of the bets are placed and keep any chance of exposure limited.

Finally, the most important tip to bluffing while in an online game of Texas hold’em is to never, under any circumstance, bluff against a desperate player. If the opponent across from you is down to his last few chips and is feeling like he has nothing to lose, he is more likely to call you out. He has a better chance of predicting your bluff then he does of turning his game around. Calling your bluff offers a quick way to double his money and continue the game. Play smart; don’t bluff when playing a moderately strong hand is a better strategy.
